MCINTOSH PHOTOGRAPHY STUDENT LANDS COVER SHOT

(Dover, NH; October 9, 2007) Twenty-four year old McIntosh College photography student Tom Couture recently landed his first cover shot on Metal Hammer magazine. The black and white picture captures the energy of Philip Anselmo, lead singer of the band Down, as they performed in Worcester, Massachusetts. The magazine is published in the United Kingdom and has a worldwide readership of more than 102,000.

Couture, a student from Berwick, Maine, was contacted by Metal Hammer magazine after seeing some of his pictures in Revolver magazine this past spring. Couture said, "It’s certainly my plan to become a professional photographer, and while I haven’t decided what niche I will pursue, I enjoy the challenge of concert photography. Facing difficult lighting and capturing those important moments on stage are the two most difficult situations I find myself. Aside from that there is a lot of competition, but I have performed in a band myself, and I think having a musical background gives me a rhythm for the shots."

"Toms’ work is excellent and he should be proud of the work he is doing. Having a cover shot is pretty cool for him and it’s great for other students at McIntosh to see the variety of work and opportunities in the professional world of photography," said Allan Wood, Program Chair of the Professional Photography and Graphic Design programs at McIntosh College. "At McIntosh, our students have a unique combination of great skills, a desire to work in the graphic arts, as well as artistic curiosity. We really feel like we are preparing the next generation of professional artists."
