McIntosh Atlantic Culinary Academy Hosts Holiday Farmers’ Market
Dover, NH – (November 26, 2007) McIntosh Atlantic Culinary Academy (MACA) will sponsor and host the Holiday Farmers’ Markets on December 22 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. More than 20 Seacoast vendors will offer locally grown produce and food products ranging from heirloom variety pumpkins and maple syrup, to cookies and lamb. The market will also provide an arena for residents to support local farmers and food producers.
“It’s amazing how much fresh, local food is available in the winter in the Seacoast area,” said Farmer’s Market organizer and Seacoast Eat Local coordinator Sara Zoë Patterson. Patterson originated the idea of the Holiday Farmer’s Market to urge people to continue to buy local after the summer and fall seasons are over.
“Having students interact with farmers and other growers puts many in touch with food and supply in a way they've never experienced," said McIntosh Atlantic Culinary Academy Executive Chef Jim Gallivan. "Students are excited about the Market coming to MACA, and can't wait to do some cooking demos with local product."
Participating farms and local food businesses include the Back River Farm, McClary Hill Farm, Meadow’s Mirth, New Roots Farm and White Heron Tea and many more.
