MCINTOSH ATLANTIC CULINARY ACADEMY HOSTS ACF CULINARY STUDENT COMPETITION Gold Medal Dinner and Fundraiser to Benefit Community Projects
Dover, NH – (February 8, 2008) McIntosh Atlantic Culinary Academy (MACA) will host the 2008 New Hampshire State Student Team Competition on February 16; culinary student teams from across the state will participate. Dozens of chefs, including members of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Great Bay New Hampshire chapter, will judge each team’s skills and cleanliness as well as the preparation and presentation of the meal. The winning team will advance to the regional competition in Cincinnati and, if successful, on to Las Vegas for the ACF National Convention competition, July 14-17, 2008.
“We are honored to host the state competition here on campus,” said MACA Executive Chef, Jim Gallivan. “Events like this give all the culinary students an opportunity to showcase their talents to the community as well as to their peers.”
Each team has 90 minutes to create four servings of a four-course meal. Each of the teams has to prepare the same entrée, poulet sauté bercy, and is asked to build a themed meal around the selected entrée.
The general public will have an opportunity to enjoy the students’ competition entries at a four-course Gold Medal Dinner a week later on February 23rd, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The blue-ribbon meal will include a seafood appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert; wine is included with the meal.
Proceeds from the Gold Medal Dinner ($45 per person) will benefit the ACF Great Bay New Hampshire chapter’s local nutrition and education programs and MACA culinary students’ community projects. For more information, please contact McIntosh College at (603) 750-1615.
